Wedding hand fans are particularly appropriate at summer weddings because they are useful as well as decorative.  If you are holding the ceremony and/or the reception outdoors in warmer months, wedding hand fans are an ideal addition to the celebration.  It is probably safe to say that you should choose something a bit larger than a fan wedding favors because you will expect guests to actually use them.  They will also need to be heavier and more durable than paper wedding fans.

Another thing to consider if choosing wedding hand fans is to either make them generic or have two kinds made.  Generic is in the sense of “unisex.”  Men would not be likely to use, let alone display, a dainty feminine hand fan.  So, you could either have one style that is suitable for both men and women, or have two versions of the same thematic wedding hand fans available.
