Of all the various styles and uses for wedding fans, wedding fan programs are probably the most useful.  They are usually professionally printed to include such things as the names of the bride and groom, the date and location and the names of the wedding party.  Information regarding the ceremony and/or the reception is often included.  This type of wedding fan program might be formatted like a program for a theater or musical presentation, except it would detail the order of the ceremony or reception. 

Some couples choose wedding fan programs that are handed out before the ceremony by ushers or greeters.  These types of programs are especially suited for ceremonies that are religious in nature and the guest list would be inter-faith.   By providing a program that provides guests with what to expect and when to expect it, the ceremony can be easily followed and participated in.  Nothing is more uncomfortable than trying to follow a religious tradition if you have never been exposed to a specific style of worship.  It takes the focus off the bride and groom because guests are trying to figure out what they should or shouldn’t do.  Wedding fan programs given before the ceremony can be informative, yet intended as a keepsake. 

When opting to use wedding fan programs keep your theme in mind, but also what information is necessary.  You may need to keep information to a bare minimum, depending on the size of your fan, so there may be a real need to be concise.  Make them visually attractive as well as functional.  Remember, this is a keepsake.
