If cost is not an issue, silk wedding fans are probably the most exquisite of all wedding fans. Although they tend to be more expensive than paper fans or bamboo fans, they are ideally suited to weddings. Many, if not most, bridal gowns are made of silk or silk-like fabric. Because of this, the bride may wish to carry a beautifully ornate silk wedding fan on her walk down the aisle and the bridal party may wish to carry complimentary silk wedding fans as well. Guests can be provided with silk fans either as wedding favors or as hand fans to use on warm days. Silk fans for guests wouldn’t be as ornate or as large, but they could be mini replicas of the bridal silk wedding fan. Once the fans are brought home and on display they will be a true reminder of the events of the day. By looking at the fan that is a replica of what the bride carried down the aisle, guests will be visually transported back to the moment.
While it is possible to have silk wedding fans personalized, it is usually the ribbon or other adornments that are imprinted with the names of the bride and groom and the wedding date. If the actual silk fan itself is to be printed then you wouldn’t want to use the traditional multi-fold fan. Perhaps a flat silk and lace fan would be better suited. Silk fans can also be embroidered if cost is not an issue. For weddings that boast an extremely large guest list, it might be better to personalize just the ribbons.
